About
Our Story
Cause & Effect Circus, founded in 2013 by Chris Murdoch and Yuki Ueda, creates innovative circus/theatre productions that explore contemporary juggling techniques and address social and economic themes through storytelling. Our mission is to redefine the audience’s perception of juggling by showcasing highly technical, creative group routines developed through our own research. We aim to contribute to a unique Canadian circus identity.

Our debut show, The New Conformity, premiered at the 2014 Victoria Fringe Festival, winning the Pick of the Fringe Award and leading to multiple performances across Canada and internationally. Other key projects include collaborations with Circuswest and the Blue Morris Band, as well as our groundbreaking live motion capture juggling show, Press Play. The company is also committed to fostering local talent through community events like I Heart Circus Cabaret and Recess: Time to Play, providing a platform for emerging circus artists in Vancouver.
